OK, so we all know by now that Joey Jordison has left Slipknot. Of course his departure brings up a ton of questions, with the main one being “who’s going to replace him?” That’s probably a ways off, but the day after the announcement became public, Minneapolis radio station 93X interviewed frontman Corey Taylor. Obviously, with Jordison’s announcement having just been made public hours before, he really didn’t have too much to reveal, so essentially, the interview was a lot of “there’s really nothing we can say about it right now,” he did offer that the band is continuing to work on a new album. And that Joey isn’t any part of it.
No, no. He’s been doing Scar The Martyr. So this is all fresh material that just a handful of us have been putting together.
It’s somewhat of a given that Jordison has probably been minimally involved, since he’s been on tour with Scar the Martyr since the album was released in October. But Jordison has writing credit on all of Slipknot’s other albums, and it will certainly be interesting to hear what an album without two founding members sounds like.
