Remember the last time Metallica did a full-on U.S. tour? That was eight years ago, so you’re forgiven if you don’t. However, that might be about to change. Blabbermouth hints that Metallica will be announcing a stadium tour later this month with Avenged Sevenfold and Volbeat as support. This would make sense, as that the lineup for last year’s stadium performance on August 20th. Perhaps that was a trial for both bands. Volbeat shares their management company, Q Prime with Metallica.
The report says that the tour will consist of at least 20 shows. That would fit in with what Hetfield told The Nerdist earlier this year when he said the band would probably play about 50 shows a year. When we saw them play at the tiny Webster Hall last year, Hetfield suggested the band would be playing at MetLife Stadium, saying “we’ll see you next year, probably across the river in a stadium next Summer.”
