The Sword, letlive., and Veil of Maya have either hinted at or announced their overall return in recent weeks. Stoner metal icons The Sword have announced new shows following their Levitation appearance, while letlive. is set for a full-scale return with their “sincerely yours” tour across multiple continents. Meanwhile, Veil of Maya, who announced a hiatus last year, may be preparing for a heavier resurgence.

Here’s what we know so far:

The Sword are back

The Sword appear to have returned since calling it quits in late 2022. Following their Levitation shows, the Austin, Texas, stoner metal outfit has announced two additional shows set for April, with more dates and announcements expected to be made soon.

Kyle Shutt on the band’s return:

“I can’t tell you what it means to see everyone’s positive reception. It feels so good to see people out there almost more enthusiastic about the band than ever – it’s something we’ll never take for granted.”

Progressive soul punk band letlive are making a long-awaited return to the stage with their “sincerely yours” tour. The band will perform across Europe, Australia, and the U.S., including stops at major festivals like Vans Warped Tour, Jera On Air, 2000 Trees, and Louder Than Life. The 2025 lineup features Jason Aalon Butler (vocals), Jeff Sahyoun (guitar), Jean Nascimento (guitar), Sage Webber (drums), and Skyler Acord (bass).

Jason Aalon Butler comments:

“I think this is all happening out of necessity. The boys and I have expressed our need to play letlive. music again based on where we are in our lives individually and how the collective spiritual theme between us has aligned. Also, if you’ll allow me to be presumptuous—I believe the world could use the ll.ove. Besides, soul punx never dies.”

Jean Nascimento adds:

“We came from a time of building an audience in grassroots venues. I am grateful to be able to enter a new chapter of letlive., where our life experiences in the past few years can offer a new and exciting experience for our fans.”

Jeff Sahyoun expresses:

“letlive. represents a part of my life that refuses to be silenced. Coming back to it feels like fulfilling a calling—one that reminds me of why I ever started all of this in the first place.”

Veil of Maya’s return getting closer?

Veil of Maya announced their hiatus in September 2024. While the progressive metalcore outfit made it to Metal Insider’s 32 Bands that disbanded in 2024 list, it has always been clear that their return is inevitable and the break temporary. While the band has been more or less silent since, guitarist Marc Okubo hinted at the band’s heavier return.

On January 30, 2025, Okubo shared the following via X:

“When veil comes back it will be the heavy version.”
