As you’ve probably heard, Slayer announced their farewell tour with Lamb of God, Behemoth, Testament and Anthrax and the tickets recently went on sale. Unfortunately, the Dallas show sold out within three minutes and now scalpers are charging up to $3,000 for a ticket. The venue seems to be a tad small for this stacked tour and only holds about 4,300 people. In contrast, Slayer toured with only Lamb of God and Behemoth this past summer and sold-out The Theater at Madison Square Garden, which holds 5,500 people. Scalpers are now using this issue to their favor and charging astronomical prices. Metalsucks provided a screenshot of the absurdity.
This type of situation happened with The Dillinger Escape Plan when they announced their final show at Terminal 5. Again, scalpers got a hold of tickets and were charging insane prices for that final show. Luckily, the band ended up adding two shows prior to their final show and the prices dropped significantly. Perhaps in an attempt to remedy the situation, Slayer can add a show before or after the original date at the same venue. Hopefully, something happens so fans don’t have to pay an arm and a leg to see their favorite band one last time.
