metallicaMetallica haven’t been playing a ton of shows lately, but they’ve been going out of their way to play interesting ones. After not getting to play the Super Bowl, they did play another San Francisco show streamed worldwide The Night Before the big game. And last year, they were the first band to play Quebec’s newest arena, Centre Videotron. Looks like they’re not done with breaking in new arenas, though, as it’s been announced that they’ll be inaugurating the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, having a show on August 20th at the new home of the Minnesota Vikings. Avenged Sevenfold and Volbeat will open.

Not only will this be, according to Metallica, their last show of the year, it’ll also be a rare occasion to see Avenged Sevenfold. The band, currently embroiled in a lawsuit against Warner Bros., hasn’t played a show since July of last year, and this will only be their fifth U.S. show since mid-2014. Volbeat, who now share management with Metallica, should have a new album out by then. They might not be the only ones on that show that have new material to promote. Avenged Sevenfold said they expect to have a new album out this year, and given the progress reports we’re getting from Metallica, maybe they’ll at least have another song or something out by then.

Metallica will be offering a presale to the Met Club beginning March 22nd at 8AM CST (running through March 24th at 10PM).  Both Avenged Sevenfold and Volbeat will offer presales to their fans beginning March 22nd at 12 Noon running through March 24th at 10PM.  For more information on ticket presales visit www.metallica.com/tour.
