KoRn’s Munky returns to the stage after recovering from COVID-19

Posted by on September 22, 2021

KoRn guitarist James “Munky” Shaffer was forced to sit out on a few KoRn shows after testing positive for COVID-19. Shaffer was temporarily replaced by guitarist Brian “Head” Welch’s Love And Death Bandmate, J.R. Bareis. Munky made his official return this past Saturday (18th) at Germania Insurance Amphitheater in Del Valle, Texas.

Where the end of the ongoing pandemic remains uncertain, bands continue to fight to complete a tour with hopes for a clean bill of health. KoRn have had quite a few setbacks on this trek as frontman Jonathan Davis tested positive during the beginning of the tour. Since his return, Davis has experienced some aftermath from his diagnosis, where he would be seen coughing, trying to catch his breath, and at times, sitting in a custom throne, equipped with an oxygen tank within reach just in case. However, like many bands fighting for some normalcy during these challenging times, the group remains determined to complete this tour.
