For a band that had been defunct since 1997 and only has three albums out, Failure sure as hell made an impact. Their albums, especially 1996’s Fantastic Planet, are viewed as classics, and even though the band fit more into the alternative world, have plenty of metal fans. Frontman Ken Andrews’ vocals, as well as his impressive engineering skills, helped elevate the band above their mid-’90s counterparts. In fact, Decibel recently inducted Fantastic Planet into their hall of fame. Former member Troy Van Leeuwen has perhaps found the most success outside of the band, playing in A Perfect Circle and now Queens of the Stone Age. Many were excited late last year when the band played several reunion shows, and this year, as they opened for Tool on their short mini-tour last month.

The touring and reception to their return seems to be paying off, as the band have announced via Spin that they’ll be going on a full-fledged tour later this year. The ‘Tree of Stars North American Tour’ will kick off next month with a pair of dates is Los Angeles and San Francisco. They’ll also play two shows in Toronto and a handful of northeast shows as well. Catch the dates, as well as Fantastic Planet, below:
