Those who have seen the fantastic Iron Maiden documentary Flight 666 know about Ed Force One, Iron Maiden’s customized Boeing 757 airliner which was used during their  2008/2009 Somewhere Back In Time World Tour. Well Ed Force One is about to take flight once again for Maiden’s The Final Frontier World Tour. The band will be playing 29 shows and hitting 26 cities in 13 countries all in 66 days with the help of their customized airliner. Out of all the dates, however, only two of them are in the U.S. Yep, fans in Sunrise (essentially Fort Lauderdale) and Tampa, Florida are the only American fans who will get to catch Maiden on this leg of the tour (unless you just so happened to be abroad, then your chances of seeing them fair much better).

Though the tour is dubbed The Final Frontier World Tour, singer Bruce Dickenson assured that fans can expect a mix of new and old material, saying the following in a Florida press release:

“We will be bringing with us pretty much the same production and lights as on this year’s summer tour of the U.S., but the set list will be a bit different. On this trip we are playing in some new countries for us such as Korea, Indonesia, Singapore and there will many new faces in other places so the set will be a mix of some of the new album The Final Frontier and recent stuff but with a healthy dose of the older fan favorites we know these new guys would wish to hear but haven’t had the opportunity to hear live before.”

That would be exciting for American fans who felt gypped by the set list from Maiden’s last North American tour… if they were hitting more cities than just the two in Florida. Oh well. I’m sure Iron Maiden will return again soon. You can check out the entire tour itinerary after the jump.
