misthyrming

1) Misthryming – Söngvar elds og óreiðu

I wouldn’t be surprised if this album appears on many top 10’s around the web because it is excellent from beginning to end. Iceland has an army of quality bands coming up left and right and Misthyrming happened to be one of the newest comers from the land of ice but they get to rub shoulders with the veterans in their scene like Svartidauði or Wormlust. Aside from the execution that leaves many other bands to shame, these youngsters manipulate their songwriting to go from perfectly structured raw black metal to dissonant haunting screeches of horror. Amazing debut album as many in here gives me hope of a better generation of extreme metal and, with new bands like Misthryming arising from the shadows to deliver these type of releases, I am definitely excited about what 2016 has for us.

Black Metal enthusiast from Los Angeles who thought was a good idea to grab a camera and shoot underground shows for the hell of it. Pseudo-writer with little to no expectations of ever winning a Pulitzer but totally down to write about your unknown band if it's good to my ears. I enjoy long walks on the beach, deep conversation, holding hands and attending Satanic music shows every now and then.
