Kalmen7) Kalmen – Course Hex

Another band already in the Metal Insider ranks from our Unholy Exhumation, this Germans made me fall in love with them at first listen. Recently signed with Van Records, this band released their debut album Course Hex earlier this year, putting together a package of emptiness, chaos and intensity blended with a mesmerizing mix of chanted vocals and pummeling black metal, worthy of anyone with a slight idea of depth within the genre. I can keep going about them so might as well read the Unholy Exhumation to get a better idea.

Recommended Track: Sol Devina

lluvia eternidad solemne6) Lluvia – Eternidad Solemne

I had the opportunity to catch Lluvia live once and the experience was almost ethereal, with the proper setting of candles, an almost pitch black stage and darkness emanating from the speakers. I can’t think on any other way to enjoy Lluvia’s latest release Eternidad Solemne, as it contains the same essence its mastermind Lord Vast delivers when playing live in a high production quality (done by no other than the mighty Dan Swanö) only paralleled by the superb songwriting of every song. Bleak manifestations of melancholy and sorrow are all you will find in this ritualistic production so consider yourself warned about one of the best atmospheric black metal albums coming out of Mexico this year.

Recommended Track: Divinidad

sulphur aeon5) Sulphur Aeon – Gateway to the Antisphere

Sulphur Aeon is, in my opinion, one of the best death metal bands surfacing in recent years and they released their debut album Swallowed by the Ocean’s Tide back in 2013 and it even made my top 10 list so it’s logical I’d have such infatuation with them. Having said that, this album deserves all the praise and attention it gets as the sheer display of musicianship, performance and atmosphere surrounding the entire record. Each song has its unique personality and speak to the great old ones on their own with no dull second to be found and a submersed darkness flaunted by the great vocals and its amazing instrumentation. If you’re looking for Cthulian atmospheric death metal, this is the right band and release for you.

Pseudo-writer with little to no expectations of ever winning a Pulitzer but totally down to write about your unknown band if it's good to my ears. I enjoy long walks on the beach, deep conversation, holding hands and attending Satanic music shows every now and then.
