The last we heard from Brendon Small, he was hanging out with us in Brooklyn talking about wanting to get some closure to Metalocalypse: Dethklok. To that end, he’d launched a petition to get people to reach out to Hulu and Adult Swim and ask that at least one of them give him enough money to end the show. Metallica heeded the call, and so did many others, but we didn’t really hear any follow-up from anyone. However, over the weekend, Small himself sent a vague Instagram post, saying “What I’ve been working on the last few months. The only thing we can visibly see is “the next record,” which suggests that he’s hard at work on a record. It doesn’t state that it’s a Metalocalypse record, though
That doesn’t mean nothing came of the campaign to bring back the show. In their usual wise-ass manner, Adult Swim has responded with their own petition. They’re seeking at least 25 signatures to convince them to sign the petition to bring back the show on Change.org – and they need to be faxed in. Yes, you read that right – they’re undertaking a petition to get them to sign a petition to bring back the show to their network. Even more hysterical is that they’re live-streaming a fax machine, which shows all entries emptying into a trash can. That’s hysterical, and suggests that, at the very least, they’re aware of the campaign. They probably wouldn’t go this far unless they’d spoken to Small as well, so hold on to your Swisgard, because we might not have seen the last of Dethklok yet.
