Continuing the saga of Static-X’s revival with Project Regeneration Vol. 2, this album follows the path laid down by its predecessor, blending unearthed relics from Wayne Static’s era with fresh material. Despite pandemic-induced delays and the discovery of additional tracks, the second volume arrived on Friday, January 26th, nearly ten years since Wayne’s passing. Featuring the original lineup of Tony Campos, Koichi Fukuda, Ken Jay, and current vocalist/guitarist Xer0, Project Regeneration: Vol. 2 resurrects Wayne Static’s legacy with previously unreleased recordings. The record moves more as a fusion of nostalgia and innovation.

Project Regeneration Vol. 2 is a reflective yet forward-looking experience, seamlessly blending the band’s iconic sound with new dimensions. Opening with “Stay Alive,” the album immediately transports listeners back to the essence of Static-X, reminiscent of their earlier hits like “Otsego” and “Push It.” Despite the passage of time, the track retains the signature elements that made Static-X a powerhouse in the industrial metal scene.

“Z0mbie” introduces a darker, more atmospheric vibe, hinting at the band’s evolution while maintaining their trademark intensity. The song’s slower tempo and haunting melodies evoke the imagery of a horror film soundtrack. As the album progresses, tracks like “Jic-Boi” and “Black Star” pay homage to the band’s roots while infusing fresh energy into their sound. With catchy hooks and infectious rhythms, these songs capture the essence of Static-X’s early 2000s timeframe, inviting listeners to revel in the nostalgia of their past hits.

“Kamikaze” and “No Hope” dive into darker themes and experimental textures. From blistering riffs to pulsating rhythms, these tracks showcase Static-X’s ability to push boundaries while staying true to their industrial metal roots. “Take Control” and “Tone” offer dynamic contrasts, seamlessly blending industrial interludes with groovy guitar riffs and haunting vocals. These tracks demonstrate Static-X’s mastery of tension and release, creating a sense of anticipation that keeps listeners engaged from start to finish.

Tracks like “Run For Your Life” and “Dark Place” deliver relentless energy and infectious hooks, capturing the raw intensity that made Static-X an iconic industrial metal act. Closing with “Disco Otsego” and “From Heaven” offer a fresh perspective on familiar themes, infusing disco elements, and dark allure into the band’s signature sound.

Project Regeneration Vol. 2 is a testament to Static-X’s legacy and creative vision. With its seamless blend of nostalgia and innovation, the album pays homage to the band’s past while paving new grounds. It’s a treat for veteran listeners to look back on while welcoming new listeners.
