Rock singer Dorothy Martin has the gift of song with a voice that compares second to none. She sings with all her heart and soul, and on March 14, 2025, her Los Angeles-based band Dorothy dropped their fourth full-length album titled The Way on ROC Nation, showcasing what true hard rock music should sound like.

Dorothy sprung on the scene in 2016 by debuting ROCKISDEAD with singles like “Raise Hell” (85 million Spotify streams) and “Wicked Ones” (77 million Spotify streams). She made a name for herself with the next two albums, 28 Days in the Valley (2018) and Gifts From The Holy Ghost (2022), and by then, she had maintained a diehard worldwide fanbase.

Dorothy is no stranger to the rock and roll scene, having great success collaborating with artists and musicians like Slash, Nita Strauss of Alice Cooper, Staind, and Scott Stapp of Creed. Dorothy even graced the stage of the infamous Grand Ole Opry when she sang a duet with Scott Stapp.

Dorothy, as an artist, has fortitude and tenacity in her voice that unites soul, country, and a little bit of rock ‘n’ roll all together on her new album, The Way. She’s a trailblazer in her own right with making an album full of country- approach storytelling brought together with Southern flare and heavier sounding music. Working alongside producer and songwriter Scott Stevens (Shinedown, Halestorm, Daughtry), Dorothy brings the listener along for a ride as she tells stories about rising above the past, exercising the demons in her life, and about faith.

Dorothy made this album for her fans and said, “I’m letting them know everything is going to be okay, as we’ll help each other find the way – even if we get lost at times.

With soaring harmonies reminiscent of a gospel singer, Dorothy starts off her album by doing what she does best, which is showing off her amazing range on “I Come Alive.  It’s a song full of heavy guitar, bass and drums.  The chorus is filled with passion in her voice and powerful in its delivery. It’s a great way to start off the journey that becomes the album.

“The Devil I Know was released as a single that hit hard not only musically but lyrically. Followed by the song that kicked off the new era, which would be The Way, “MUD, aka “Mud on ya, produced over 1 million streams right from the jump start.  It will make the listener put some pep in their step and bob their heads.  It also debuts Dorothy, introducing her skills of rock screaming that comes right from the gut. It feels like she has always let her spirit go and scream vocally, which fans will surely want to hear more of in the future.

Next up comes a little bit of country mixed with a lot of rock ‘n roll tunes, “Tombstone Town, featuring Slash on guitar, bringing to life some great storytelling and reaching new heights with an amazing chorus. Speaking of storytelling, “Bones provides a passionate journey of faith Dorothy’s been through with lines like “I’m never giving in, it isn’t in my bones.”

Unholy Water is another impassioned song full of faith with gritty guitar playing, especially during a solo where the music goes unbridled. The chorus talks about being “crucified for my beliefs, but then comes another line that is powerful in nature with “you ain’t gonna drown me.

Sure to be a fan favorite is “Haunted House which is a drum forward rock song. Dorothy’s sultry voice is mesmerizing, especially her soaring vocals during the chorus.

“Putting Out The Fire is a rock-steady song full of passionate vocals and tells a story of a relationship ending with a chorus that includes “I can’t stand the burn.  The next song, “Super Human, has Dorothy singing with a mystical tone. During the chorus, she channels the vocals of a young Stevie Nicks, making the song a super special one to listen to.

“The Way ends the album with a song channeling inner strength and embodies positivity.  It’s a slow song featuring the piano and maybe the most moving song on the album.

Dorothy’s love of rock ‘n roll and her faith shine in this album. It may even be her best work to date. The Way embodies faith-based storytelling, working through inner demons and encouraging positivity and hope for the people listening to the music.

Music with soul is hard to come by, but Dorothy’s songwriting makes it sound easy. Dorothy has played sold-out tours, has had some remarkable collaborations with fellow musicians, and has over 1 billion streams already in her repertoire. Dorothy is a superstar in her own right, with a unique voice, and she’s in a class by herself. The Way is a special album full of honesty and openness that shows off Dorothy’s vulnerable side, but that’s what makes the music so special
