It’s been a project that’s gone through many changes, both in lineups and even names. After long delay, though, the debut album from former Anthrax guitarist Dan Spitz’s new group Red Lamb was finally released yesterday.

However, when you first hear the name Red Lamb, you may start thinking to yourself “Hey, isn’t that the group that Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine joined back in May?” After one listen to the album and after analyzing the band’s Facebook page, it would appear that Mustaine is not in the band despite contrary reports. So what gives?

Well, we just recently had the chance to talk with Dan Spitz himself about his new project. While the entire interview will be posted right here soon, Spitz confirmed that Mustaine was a co-producer on the album and co-writer on all of the songs. The rest of the lineup includes singer Don Chaffin and drummer Patrick Johansson. Though Mustaine was never an actual member of the group, it’s still pretty cool to hear a project where members from two of the Big 4 bands closely collaborated together. Plus, it’s nice to see Spitz back in action and playing music for the first time since Anthrax’s 2005 reunion.

In addition to releasing the self-titled debut album via Amazon and iTunes, Red Lamb have also just released a new music video for their first single. You can check out the video for “The Cage” after the jump. You can also keep an eye out for more news about Red Lamb via their newly launched website and Facebook page.
