Swedish death metal band Firespawn has announced an official release date for their third album, Abominate. According to a post made to their Facebook page Wednesday, the band said the album is set to hit shelves via Century Media Records on June 7.
In the post, A. Impaler said of the album:
“On this album we pushed ourselves more then before outside our comfort zone.” He continues, “You will hear a lot more heavy metal influences on this album. We never aimed to be a Death Metal band in the ordinary Death Metal genre. We make exactly the kind of music that we like and that is more to the extreme side but we always try news things and think outside the box and that is what’s so great with Firespawn. Always refreshing great fucking metal! This album is no exception, quite the opposite. On Abominate we explore new ground that not many Death Metal bands has before. Listen to it and you’ll know what I’m talking about.”
The band also debuted the artwork for Abominate with the post. It features a painting by artist Paolo Girardi, who also did the covers of their two previous albums and 7” single.
News about the album’s status has been coming quickly over the last few months. Just last week, the band said on their Facebook page that they had finished mixing and mastering with more information to come.
Firespawn is made up of LG Petrov (Entombed A.D.) on vocals, Fedrik Folkare (Unleashed, ex-Necrophobic) and Victor Brandt (Entombed A.D.) on guitar, A. Impaler (Necrophobic, Naglfar) on bass, and Matte Modin (ex-Raised Fist / ex-Dark Funeral) on drums. The band released their debut album, Shadow Realms, in 2015, followed by their second album, The Reprobate, in 2017.
According to the post, more details about the album will be made available over the next few weeks.
