This summer is poised to be an epic one for the mighty Viking metal gods. In addition to playing Mayhem Fest, Amon Amarth will be releasing album number 9 via Metal Blade this June. And now we have a glimpse at the cover artwork for Deceiver Of The Gods.

The group revealed the artwork (as seen above) via Reddit along with the following message:

“The cover depicts the last battle between the Gods and Loki who arrives at Vigridr field accompanied by the army of the dead during Ragnarok, the end of the world. We hope you enjoy it.”

Let’s see Thor 2 try to come up with a better plot line than that. Furthermore, the cover artwork looks pretty bad ass! And it turns out that we won’t have to wait long for new music, as the title track from Deceiver Of The Gods is expected to be made available for free download sometime this week. Till then, kick off your weekend by starring at this killer artwork.

UPDATE: As promised, Amon Amarth has made the title track to Deceiver Of The Gods for free download and stream (after having a little technical difficulties with its website). Let’s just say that the new song is as epic as the cover artwork. Go stream or download “Deceiver Of The Gods” in the player below.
