Big Brother 13 2nd runner-up Adam Poch is recapping Survivor Caramoan – Fans vs. Favorites for us, focusing on Matt “the Beard” Bischoff – BMX salesman & lead singer of the metal band Moonbow.

Welcome to my weekly Survivor 26 Caramoan Fans vs. Favorites recap. I will be focusing on Matt “the Beard” Bischoff – BMX salesman & lead singer of the metal band Moonbow.  This recap will be short because there was only a half of a show tonight – the 2nd half was more like an episode of the Jeff Probst Talk Show – and now we see why it was cancelled.

When the episode started – the Fans tribe just got back from voting off Laura. Matt & Mike knew it was time to get rid of one of their original alliances and keep the tribe strong so they could win challenges. Since Reynold played his hidden immunity idol, it was going to be back out there for someone to find. Matt knows how important it is that he finds it before Reynold does again.

Moving on to the reward challenge – both teams had to have 2 people holding huge nets up with a rope while the other 4 members filled the other team’s nets with coconuts. The fans decided to have Matt & Michael hold their nets, while Reynold, Eddie, Sherri, and the other girl who never gets any airtime (turns out her name is Julia) filled the nets being held by Phillip & Brandon. Matt & Mike were doing a good job holding on but the other 4 were having issues filling the Favs nets. Phillip was screaming at them while they were trying to throw. Obviously a cheap tactic – but you know what, this is a game for $1,000,000 so all’s fair. The Favs were filling up both Mike’s and Matt’s nets pretty well – and Matt could not hold on any longer and was the first to drop. Reynold put the finishing touches on Brandon’s net and he dropped. So now it was between Phillip & Mike to see who would win it for their tribe. Both men were struggling and eventually Mike dropped giving the Favs another win – and a BBQ feast.

Back at camp – Sherri (in confessional) questioned why they kept the team strong to win challenges, but still lost. Hey Sherri – you really think Laura would have made that challenge closer? Maybe you should be the one looking in the mirror as you seemed to throw coconuts as well as Laura swam. So now it is time for everyone to scurry around the woods looking for the idol. Matt tells us that if he finds it he is not telling anyone. Spoken like a true fan of the show. The whole point of a HIDDEN immunity idol is NOT to let people know you have it. But in the end Reynold finds it again… seems a little convenient dontcha think?

Next we see why this game is called Survivor. The rain starts, and keeps going, and going, and the wind is getting faster, and so is the rain. The whole tribe is huddled in their shelter which does not provide much to prevent them from staying dry. We get a close-up of Matt’s gnarly feet. After being rained upon for 2 days straight – they looked like pale pickled nubs.  No food for energy, no tarp for protection, losing tribe mates one by one – things are not going well at all.

But all that changed once the teams were brought in for the Immunity Challenge. This is where the episode stopped and the Jerry Springer show started. Bottom line – Brandon has been a disturbance, and the favorites forfeited the challenge so they could go to tribal council. Instead of waiting til night – they did the vote right there in front of the Fans – airing out all the dirty laundry. By a vote of 8-1 Brandon was sent packing. This was just the momentum shift the Fans needed – but we see in previews for next week, the tribes look like they will merge. With the numbers being 8 Favs & 6 Favorites – it will be impossible for them to have the numbers from here on out – so let’s see how Matt can maneuver his BMX bike through the next few weeks on his way to try and win the money and the title of Sole Survivor!
