Currently part of an arena tour with Daughtry and headliner Disturbed, Nothing More have been playing to sold out arena crowds for the past month opening the 25th Anniversary tour of Disturbed’s “The Sickness”.

Not something a band would normally think of doing while on such a mega tour, Nothing More made a pit stop, this past Tuesday, April 8th in Flint, Michigan. Wedged between two arena shows on April 7th, and April 9th, Nothing More made a quick trip to The Machine Shop, for one of very few solo headlining performances on this current run.

A lot of bands have graced the doors of the world-famous Machine Shop, but very few make a point of coming back regularly once they break into larger venue options. With a maximum capacity of 550 people, this single level venue has made its mark as one of those must see before you die type places.

A variety of shows happen here often, so there is something for everyone, but Nothing More being announced brought people from all over, even as far as Texas (Nothing More’s home state) for this intimate performance. With tickets being sold out within minutes of going on sale months ago, fans arrived early (some for a VIP meet & greet option) and packed into the Machine Shop as doors opened at 6pm.

Local Flint natives, Never The Crash, hit the stage at 7pm, and got the show started off right with a 30-minute set which saw the venue hit near capacity before they even finished.

Direct support for tonight was another Texas bred band, Kingdom Collapse, who hit the stage around 8pm, and laid right into an 11-song set, that included a Natasha Bedingfield cover of “Unwritten”. Most fans knew the songs, and were singing along, with everyone joining in for their closing, and most famous song “Unbreakable”

With a slight intermission, Nothing More took to the stage a few minutes early. And, as Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” played over the speakers Jonny, Ben, Dan and Mark took to the stage (in hoodies, most likely due to the freezing temperatures in Flint) and came out swinging hard with their hit single “House On Sand”.

Followed immediately by “Angel Song”, and “If It Doesn’t Hurt” off newest album Carnal. Then, tossing in a throwback song with 2017’s “Don’t Stop” they brought it right back to current with “Stuck” and newest single “Freefall”. Throughout their 15-song set, fans were treated to most of the new album “Carnal” with mainstream mega hits thrown in to break it all up and not seem like an album listening party.

After more than an hour, they chose to forego a cheesy encore, (where they pretend to walk off stage and come back) Nothing More opted for the more direct leave it all on the stage option and took us on an emotional roller coast with emotionally connecting “Jenny” and tear jerking “Fade In/ Fade Out” before cranking it up one last time with their first radio charting hit “This Is The Time (Ballast)”

Nothing More are currently still on tour with Disturbed throughout mid-May, before heading overseas for a European summer headlining tour. While they make amazing openers, I would highly recommend catching them on their solo tour next time they’re in your area, as it makes for a night you definitely won’t forget.

Nothing More has proved time and time again that no matter how big or small a venue, or crowd, they bring it all and give it all to the fans every time. Head over to their website here to pick up tickets, and maybe a Meet & Greet package and check them out for yourself.
