Disturbed are currently touring across North America, celebrating the 25th anniversary of their debut album, The Sickness. Known for their explosive performances enhanced by pyrotechnics, the band has been delivering high-energy shows in honor of the classic album.
According to the Chicago Tribune, their pyrotechnic display got a bit too intense last Saturday (8) at the United Center in Chicago, IL, causing minor damage to the Chicago Bulls’ championship banners. As a result, the banners, which commemorate the Bulls’ six NBA titles from 1991, 1992, 1993, 1996, 1997, and 1998, have been removed for the remainder of the season.
The pyro setup was positioned directly below the banners, and by the end of the show, featuring special guests Three Days Grace and Sevendust, all six banners had sustained heat damage, particularly along the bottom halves. While there were initial hopes of repairing them before the NBA season ends, the process is expected to take longer.
United Center communications issued the following statement:
“United Center is currently working with the Bulls to explore options to repair these banners. While the banners will not be in place for the remainder of this season, we do anticipate them being back in place next season.”
Disturbed’s The Sickness 25th Anniversary Tour continues with special guests Three Days Grace and opener Sevendust through March 21. The lineup will then shift to include Daughtry and opener Nothing More from March 29 until the tour concludes in May. The band recently released a new song, “I Will Not Break,” via their own label, Mother Culture Records. Additionally, they plan to bring the 25th-anniversary celebration to Europe this fall, with support from Megadeth. Tickets are available at this location.
