Photos: An evening with Corey Taylor, NYC, Irving Plaza, 7/7/15

While in New York City to promote his book that was released yesterday, You’re Making Me Hate You, Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor certainly kept himself busy. A stop by Music Choice got him a viral video when he was asked his thoughts on Kanye West. He also did a Reddit AMA. Later that night, however, he stopped by New York’s Irving Plaza for “An Evening With.”  Much like when he did this a few years ago, the performance was somewhere between a book reading, stand-up and a solo acoustic performance. Initially at Gramercy Theatre, the show sold out and was then upgraded to Irving Plaza, where it also sold out.

In between readings from You’re Making Me Hate You and questions from the audience, Taylor played unplugged versions of SLipknot and Stone Sour songs as well as covers of songs by Chris Isaak (“Wicked Game”), Metallica (“Welcome Home (Sanitarium)),” Prince (“Little Red Corvette”) and more. Metal Insider contributing photographer Melinda Oswandel was on hand for the proceedings and captured the show. P.S. if you’re wondering who the other guy is onstage with him, it’s his friend Jason Christopher of Junk Beer Kidnap Band.
