In 2008, Slipknot members Corey Taylor, Shawn “Clown” Crahan, Jim Root, and Sid Wilson recorded 11 songs during sessions for All Hope Is Gone. Those tracks, which were collectively given the title Look Outside Your Window, have so far gone unreleased. However, we may be getting to hear them sooner than later.

In an interview with NME published Tuesday (28), Crahan gave a hint that the band might be releasing Look Outside Your Window sometime during the current album cycle

Said Crahan of the impending release:

“It was scheduled for Christmas but I just quit asking because I don’t want it to interfere with this – and mainly because of what it is. It needs its own space. We’re having a good time enjoying this album and we have no ego with that. It’s just beautiful art that we want to share in the right way. It’s going to come out on this album cycle. It’ll just be this thing that happens and people won’t even know.”

The band has been teasing the release of these songs for months. Back in August, Crahan mentioned that the band had 11 unreleased tracks they wanted to release when the time was right. Said Crahan to Loudwire,

“We have a whole other album that four of us wrote when we did All Hope Is Gone. We have 11 songs that we’re gonna release sometime in this album cycle. But it’s never been about just getting it out. It needs to be out when it’s right and by coming out during this album cycle people will even understand more what we’re doing on this album and what first led to it.”

The same month, Taylor told SiriusXM’s Trunk Nation

“We’ve been trying to find a way to release those songs for God knows how long. The stuff from Look Outside Your Window is really, really — I mean, there’s no real way to describe it. It’s experimental, but it’s super vibey, super melodic. It’s really good. It’s hard to explain.”

Taylor said of the album’s sound:

“There’s something about those songs. They’re very solemn, very energetic, very artistic. For people who are used to a certain way of Slipknot sounding, this doesn’t sound anything like that. It’s much more of a rock vibe. Honestly, it’s much more of a Radiohead vibe, to be honest.”

Even with today’s news, we still don’t know exactly when Look Outside Your Window will be released.

Slipknot released their latest album, We Are Not Your Kind, in August 2019. The band is currently on a European tour behind the album that will take them through the month of February. They will then hit the festival circuit for the spring and summer, including appearances at Sonic Temple (May 16), Rocklahoma (May 23), Wacken Open Air (August 1), Knotfest shows in Tokyo (March 20 & 21) and the UK (August 22) and Knotfest at Sea (August 10-14).
