Rage Against the Machine may be the start of Metal Insider’s list of bands that have broken up in 2024. While this wouldn’t be the first from the group, their recently reunited tour went to a halt. Their 2023 touring plans were cancelled in late 2022 due to vocalist Zach de la Rocha needing more time to recover after his injury. However, fans have hoped there would be a rescheduled trek. There never was.

Drummer Brad Wilk recently revealed the iconic band “will not be touring or playing live again.” There has been no official confirmation from the band, aside from a repost. There hasn’t been any official comments from other members. This more or less confirms it’s likely the end for the group. Following Wilk’s post, guitarist Tom Morello chimed in with a brief response, making a subtle yet powerful message.

The guitarist shared his induction speech from November 2023 from the group’s  Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. Morello was the only member present. Listening to his speech, seems like the band may have called it a day much earlier.

During his acceptance speech, Morello emphasized celebrating the music and the band’s mission with the fans. Morello’s recent repost of his acceptance speech, which also shows him urging fans not to wait for Rage and declared that the mission is not over, emphasizing it’s the fans who should “carry on that mission and that message.”

Morello reposted the speech with the following text:

“History, like music, is not something that “happens”. It’s something you MAKE.”

Formed in 1991, Rage Against the Machine achieved major commercial success with their 1992 self-titled debut album, leaving an undeniable mark that remains relevant over thirty years later. However, in terms of creating new music, it’s been well over two decades since their fourth and final record, 2000’s Renegades, turning twenty-four this year.
