West Virginia-based metalcore band Curses have announced an indefinite hiatus following the departure of drummer Tyrsson Demarest. The group cited “an untenable situation brought about by personal conflict” as the reason for both the lineup change and the hiatus. Details remain scarce regarding the split. The band plans on releasing one more song before officially closing their doors within the next few weeks.
On Friday (7th), the band expressed:
“Effective immediately, Tyrsson Demarest is no longer associated with Curses. We ask that everyone please respect our privacy regarding this matter.
That being said, due to an untenable situation brought about by personal conflict within the band, we have decided it’s best to put Curses on an indefinite hiatus. We will be releasing one final song in the coming weeks.
We’d like to thank everyone for all the time spent, the moments shared, and the memories made together. It really isn’t possible to fully express how much this has meant to us over the years.
We will always cherish what you’ve given us. ”
Demarest later stated via Instagram Stories (screenshot available via Lambgoat), the following:
“As you all have seen, I am no longer associated with Curses, with no fault of my own. As was stated previously, please respect each individual’s privacy regarding the matter. Thank you to everyone involved over the last couple of years. I had a wonderful time filled with great memories.”
