Once again, what was originally planned for one of the best Danny Wimmer Presents festivals ever with Metallica headlining two sets for all five, has turned into one disaster after the next. Last month, Welcome to Rockville, Sonic Temple, and Epicenter festivals were cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Unfortunately, Louder than Life Festival, the event that expanded to four days will no longer take place. This festival was scheduled for September. The only remaining DWP event is Aftershock, which the sold-out festival is currently on as planned for October.

Metallica, who were scheduled to headline one night of the fest, issued the following statement:

“We hope that today’s update finds you, your family and loved ones safe and healthy during these turbulent times. Unfortunately, we are here to tell you about another planned ‘Tallica gathering that is being cancelled as the Louisville, Kentucky Louder Than Life festival scheduled to be held in September will not be taking place this year. Even though the festival was not scheduled to take place until this fall, a four-day festival like this takes many months to plan and local authorities and health officials have already advised against moving forward.

As with the other cancelled Danny Wimmer Presents events that we were scheduled to take part in, they will be offering full refunds to fans. All purchasers (including transfers from Welcome To Rockville, Sonic Temple and Epicenter) will be notified of their options and procedures via email next week.

We know these are difficult times for so many of you and we truly look forward to the time when we occupy this space with some happier news. Until then, stay home and stay safe!”

The Danny Wimmer Presents team added:

“In our heart of hearts we hoped and prayed that COVID-19 would not prevent us from having the 2020 Louisville Trifesta. In what feels like a repetitive bad dream, we now have to announce that Hometown Rising, Louder Than Life, and Bourbon & Beyond festivals, held at Highland Festival Grounds at Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, KY, are being cancelled for 2020. We are working really hard to bring as much of our 2020 lineups back to 2021.

Even though the festivals are not until September, the advanced planning realities of producing three back-to-back-to-back events have necessitated that a decision be made sooner than later. Our decision also confirms with the advice of health officials.

As with our other cancelled events, we will be offering full refunds to our fans. All purchasers (including transfers from Welcome to Rockville, Sonic Temple and Epicenter) will be notified of their options and procedures via email next week.

We are truly heartbroken it has come to this. We want to thank you for your patience, support and loyalty. We hope you are staying safe as well as physically and mentally well. We are blessed to have such an amazing Festival Family, and together, as a community, we will get through this.

With Love,

Team DWP”
