Chilean metal outfit Mawiza, have sown their paths in folk metal, collecting the roots of the Mapuche people to transform them into music, joins Season of Mist. With striking sonorities that include typical indigenous instruments, tribal songs (ülkantun), and all the power of accelerated metal riffs, the members from Mawiza have managed to take their career beyond the local stages, even achieving collaborations with artists of the stature of Joe Duplantier (Gojira). The winners of the Pulsar award (Chilean Grammys) for Best Metal Band in 2020 consolidated their years of work with an alliance that will allow them to take the historical struggle of the Araucanian people to the entire world and demonstrate the roar of Mother Nature and their ancestors.
Mawiza commented:
“Our hearts are strengthened. As part of the indigenous Mapuche Nation, we must first give thanks to the natural energies that made this possible. With this new partnership, our music is ready to root like a tree in new territories and break through the concrete of the largest cities, always guided by the wisdom of our ancestors and the will of our land. Our next album is on its way. With the support of Season of Mist, we are confident it will be our most powerful work to date. We want to thank mother nature that governs us all and the spirits that protect our sacred land of Wallmapu for their guidance and deliverance. Might our inner power be a fresh breeze in the midst of the battle! Might our people survive! Might our struggle continue!”
