Ne Obliviscaris Signs To Season Of Mist

Ne Obliviscaris has certainly made a big impression on us at Metal Insider. Not only did Benjamin Baret and Matt Klavins earn the 2010-2011 Metal Insider Best Unsigned International Guitarist(s) Award, but the Australian group’s latest album Portal Of I made its way onto our top 10 albums of 2012 list. As it turns out, they’ve made an impression on Season Of Mist as well.

Season Of Mist recently announced Ne Obliviscaris as their latest signing. Ne Obliviscaris had the following to say about joining Season Of Mist’s roster:

“For us as a band, signing to Season of Mist, one of the best independent metal labels in the world, a label whose roster includes some of our all-time favorite bands and influences, is quite surreal. We worked for many years to get our debut album Portal Of I out there for the world to hear and for its reception to have been so overwhelmingly positive, and for a label like this to not only love our music, but believe we can go places in the worldwide metal scene is incredible. It is one of those things that just gives us even more motivation to keep composing and performing and trying to take Ne Obliviscaris as far as we can to as many people across the world as possible. We’re currently in the middle of writing our next album with plans to record late 2013 and we can’t wait to get it out there to the world and take that next step in partnership with Season of Mist.”

As we insinuated before, Ne Obliviscaris may be familiar to many for the visa issues that guitarist Benjamin Baret faced in 2011. However, Ne Obliviscaris proved with Portal Of I that they are a band to keep an eye on. As Kodi said in his list about the album, “picture Alcest playing tech-death, or old-school Opeth with more violin (yes violin).” We’re certainly interested to hear their follow up to Portal Of I, which is due out in late 2013.
