When Trent Reznor revealed that Nine Inch Nails was “not dead” last year, fans were relieved. Since making those comments, though, we haven’t heard much about NIN besides a cover of U2’s “Zoo Nation” for Q Magazine. However, that may soon change.

In a recent interview with Billboard, Reznor revealed that he would be writing new music for numerous projects, including Nine Inch Nails. “I’m going to be writing for Nine Inch Nails this year,” says Reznor, adding that he doesn’t “have any particular goal in mind other than… my voice as a songwriter feels like it needs to speak up or at least work out a little bit to not atrophy. I think I have something to say that feels unique to who I am right now, and that’s when it tells me it’s time to do something.” Reznor does admit, though, that there’s still a chance he could adopt another moniker for the material, but as of right now the plan is to record it as NIN.

Of course, it could still be awhile till we hear new music from NIN. Not only is Reznor still working on his other project How To Destroy Angels’ debut full length, but he also has been keeping himself busy with his gig in Hollywood. Still, it’ll be interesting to hear what Reznor may have in store for NIN in the future.
