While “heavy” is definitely a word that applies to post-rock instrumental quartet Pelican, it’s definitely not the first word that would come to mind. Those words would probably be “post-rock,” “instrumental” and “quartet.” However, the band is streaming another song from their forthcoming fifth album, Forever Becoming, and it’s both heavy and upbeat. We really dug “Immutable Dusk,”, but “Deny the Absolute” is arguably better, starting out fast before locking into a groove at about 2 minutes in. We’re really looking forward to hearing the rest of this album, but it looks like we’ll have to wait until about October 15, which is when Forever Becoming will be released on Southern Lord.
