Max Cavalera certainly seems to be a workaholic. In 2014 alone, two of his projects released new material; in May, the self-titled debut of super group Killer Be Killed (also featuring Mastodon, The Dillinger Escape Plan, and ex-The Mars Volta members), and the third album from Cavalera Conspiracy, his project with brother and former Sepultura drummer Igor Cavalera, titled Pandemonium, was released in November via Napalm Records.
Now, a photo of shared by front man Max’s wife Gloria on her Facebook page on January 3, confirms that Soulfly is currently working on their tenth album. In the photo, Max can be seen in the studio with his band mates: Marc Rizzo (guitar), Tony Campos (bass), and Zyon Cavalera (drums), who is Max and Gloria’s son. Also seen is the album’s producer, Matt Hyde (Slayer, Children of Bodom, Monster Magnet, Winds of Plague). The album is expected to be released sometime this year and will be the second Soulfly album on Nuclear Blast (which also happens to be the current label of Max Cavalera’s former band, Sepultura) after Savages was released on October 1, 2013. Max said in our interview with him last year that he would be working on a new Soulfly album this year, but we didn’t know who soon he would be getting started. The biggest question for fans that remains is what guest appearances will the tenth Soulfly album feature?
