Stellar Circuits’ Top 5 prog metal albums of 2018

Posted by on October 31, 2018

On November 9th, the Winston-Salem, NC prog/experimental metal outfit Stellar Circuits’ new album Ways We Haunt will be released (pre-order here). The record was produced by Jamie King (Between the Buried and Me, Scale the Summit, The Contortionist) as the group promised it will deliver a variety of soundscapes with influences ranging from A Perfect Circle to Between the Buried And Me. To celebrate the album’s arrival, we asked the band what their top five favorite prog metal albums of 2018 are so far.

5) TesseracT – Sonder (Kscope)

Sonder was the first album that came to mind when thinking about the best prog albums of the year… When I heard their single “King” I knew it was going to be one of my favorite TesseracT records to date. I love the balance of their heavy and ambient elements in this track and throughout the record. Also, I’d like to mention Amos  Williams is one of my favorite bass players… He destroys. Jesse Olsen (bass)

4) Night Verses – From the Gallery of Sleep (Equal Vision Records)
Night Verses had one of the sickest albums of the year. They have such a distinct vibe and sound. I was really disappointed when they lost their vocalist but it was awesome to see them with the freedom to take the music in another direction. I think these guys stand as one of the most unique progressive bands around. – Ben Beddick (vocals)
