Last month, Danish black metal artist Myrkur released the first taste of her sophomore album via the not-so-metal “Tva Kongunbarn.” It turns out that the song isn’t even on the normal version of Mareridt, coming out on Relapse on September 15th. It will, however, be on the deluxe edition of the album.

Today, the album’s first propper single was relased, and it’s a heavy track. Starting off with blast beats, “Maneblot” wastes no time getting started, but after about a minute, gets a little slower and less frenetic. A violin (or similar stringed instrument) takes it through the rest of the song, highlighting melody over black metal and showing the diversity of Amalie Brunn, who wrote and played everything on the new album.

Mareridt will be released on September 15th on Relapse Records, and can be preordered here.
