It’s been about five years since we’ve heard new music from Manowar, that’s unless you consider their 2010 re-recording of Battle Hymns as “new.” But the wait for the power metal legends’ first album of original material since 2007’s Gods Of War will come to an end this Summer.

And in anticipation for as yet titled album’s June/July release, Manowar held a private listening party for select members of their fan base The Circle. During the event, held in the Netherlands on March 12, bassist Joey DeMaio and the band’s production team played rough mixes of new songs. And this past week, a minute long video of fans listening to a new song called “El Gringo” was posted online.

The clip gives us our first taste of new Manowar. And apparently, DeMaio told the group to keep an eye out on the band’s Facebook page for an explanation behind the song’s story, while also mentioning something about a movie after playing the song. For now, footage from the listening party that includes an audio snippet of “El Gringo” can be seen above.
