Last week, fans were elated to learn that a supergroup featuring members of Mastodon, Queens Of The Stone Age AND At The Drive-In would soon be unleashed. Well not only do we now know when the group, named Gone Is Gone, will release its debut effort, but also have a new song to hold us over.
Comprised of Mastodon singer/bassist Troy Sanders, QOTSA guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen, At the Drive-In drummer Tony Hajjar, and multi-instrumentalist Mike Zarin, Gone Is Gone will release its self-titled debut on July 8 via Rise Records. But today, the band premiered the EP’s first single titled “Violescent”. Sanders’ vocals are instantly recognizable on this crushing track, which frankly sounds like something we’d hope to hear from a group comprised of such musicians.
While each member is obviously busy with their other bands (especially Hajjar), Gone Is Gone will make its live debut at Los Angeles’ Dragonfly on April 27. For now, stream “Violescent” and check out the EP’s track listing below.
