When Ghost announced that they’d be having special events in New York and Los Angeles last night, it was pretty obvious that they weren’t going to play at Saint Vitus and The Monty Bar, respectively. It turned out that they were both listening parties for the band’s new EP, Popestar, which, was officially announced today and is on sale now. After the release of “Square Hammer” on Monday, the fact that they would be releasing an EP to coincide with their tour that kicks off tonight was one of the worst-kept secrets ever. That being said, it’s out now.

In addition to the aforementioned original song, there are four covers, although they’re a bit more obscure than those on If You Have Ghost. The Eurythmics cover, “Missionary Man,” will likely be the best-known one on here, but there are also covers of Echo and the Bunnymen (“Nocturnal Me”), UK dance duo Simian Mobile Disco (“I Believe”) and Swedish band Imperiet (“Bible”).
