When you look at the list of rock or metal stars gone country, there aren’t a hell of a lot of them, but it is a thing. Steven Tyler is seemingly taking away from Aerosmith’s retirement by putting out his country album, and the singers of StainD and Poison have put out country albums as well. Hell, even Behemoth’s Nergal is working on an album that will have country elements to it. And while Ozzy Osbourne is working on an album after Black Sabbath’s final tour ends early next year, you don’t have to worry about it being a country album. Speaking to Rolling Stone, he said:
Personally, I think you should stick to what you know best. If Steven’s having a good time with it, who am I to complain? But it would be absurd for me to do that. I don’t mind country, but the “Prince of Darkness” with a cowboy hat? I’m a rock & roller, not a fucking country bumpkin.
He hasn’t said much about the next Ozzy album, other than that it’s going to happen, and he doesn’t know if he’s going to tour extensively behind it. He says several times that he’s enjoying the Sabbath tour now that he’s not drinking or doing drugs. With the tour not ending until next February, it’s hard ti imagein the next Ozzy album, which would be his first since 2010’s Scream, coming out anytime before the end of 2017 at the earliest. At least you won’t have to worry about any pedal steel guitar on it.
