revolverawards
Remember Revolver’s Golden Gods Awards? The U.S. sister to Metal Hammer’s Golden Gods Awards, the awards had been held in Los Angeles and was the only awards ceremony in the States recognizing hard rock and metal (unless you count the token award given out at the Grammys). They took last year off, and now are returning at the end of this year, rebranded as the 2016 Epiphone Revolver Music Awards. This year, they’re switching coasts, with the awards taking place on December 13th at Webster Hall.

The announcement took place at an event last night at Brooklyn’s Saint Vitus Bar. Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine, who will host the show along with SiriusXM’s Jose Mangin, was in attendance at the event, and announced that Megadeth would be performing. Also on tap to play are Zakk Wylde, Lacuna Coil and Stitched Up Heart. We’re not sure what the “Fallen Heroes All-Star Jam” is (probably Pantera and Slayer songs with a Bowie thrown in for good measure), but Ace Frehley, Bumblefoot, Pop Evil and Butcher Babies are on board for that. If it’s anything like previous years, a surprise guest or two will pop up as well.

This year, the event won’t be on VH1, mainly because there is no more VH1 Classic. Instead, it will be streamed live on video streaming platform Twitch, as well as broadcast on SiriusXM’s Liquid Metal, Guitar World and Revolver‘s websites Facebook Live and YouTube channels. If you want to go, you can pick up tickets here, and if for some reason, you’re not tired of of voting after next Tuesday and think you can make a difference, you can vote for the awards here.

Probably the best part of last night’s event was that after announcing the Epiphone Revolver Music Awards, Mustaine stuck around and actually got behind the bar at Saint Vitus, which was serving his A Tout Le Monde beer. We feel that his next alcohol should be called Whaddya Mead, but obviously Saint Vitus was super psyched for their temporary help behind the bar.
