Last-In-LineLast in Line, the band featuring Vivian Campbell alongside founding Dio members, Vinny Appice, Claude Schnell, and Jimmy Bain with new singer Andrew Freeman (Lynch Mob), played their first show ever on Saturday night at the Slidebar in Fullerton, California as a warm-up for their upcoming tour of the U.K.

Last in Line brainchild Vivian Campbell has posted the following statement about the show on the band’s Facebook page:

“Despite it being the loudest thing ever in the history of mankind, I very much enjoyed our Last In Line debut gig at Slidebar on Saturday. We were a bit nervy in our performance and thus made a few mistakes, but then that’s you do warm-up gigs for, right?. I’m doing chemo number 9 today, then fly to Belfast tomorrow to start our wee, 4 date mini tour. Very much looking forward to it (the gigs that is, not the chemo…). Viv.”

Campbell, who is in recovery for Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, seems to remain in good spirits both online and in the fan-filmed videos of the band’s first ever performance as Last in Line that can be seen below. Though it is difficult to perform Dio songs without Dio himself, Freeman brings a unique voice to the early Dio records. Campbell wanted to find a good singer, not one who sounds like Dio and he definitely accomplished that. That could also be because there really isn’t another vocalist like Ronnie James Dio.

Last in Line’s setlist was as follows:

01. Stand Up And Shout
02. Straight Through The Heart
03. King Of Rock And Roll
04. Don’t Talk To Strangers
05. Sacred Heart

08. Caught In The Middle
09. Egypt (The Chains Are On)
10. I Speed At Night
11. The Last In Line
