09) Anti-Christian

The son of a jazz musician, the versatile Anti-Christian is an insanely prolific musician. His resume includes Tsjuder, Doedsvanger, Tyrann, Nattverd, Umoral, etc. Anti-Christian has played with plenty of successful non-black metal acts as well. For instance, you can currently find him in Gothminister and Beaten to Death. This fiery artist actually doubles as a pyrotechnician.

08) Sarke

The Spellemann-nominated Thomas “Sarke” Bergli co-founded Tulus, which gave birth to Khold. Today, the two bands run parallel. Although Sarke has only handled drums on two of the seven albums by his eponymous “solo” project, it is worth noting that it is fronted by Darkthrone’s Nocturno Culto. Sarke actually replaced Fenriz on drums in Valhall for a bit. Sarke is old-school in his approach to his craft and relies heavily on intuition. He does not allow himself to be influenced by trends.

07) Terje Kråbøl

Trondheim’s Terje Kråbøl has a seemingly endless CV, which encompasses diverse acts like Katechon, Faustcoven, Minas, Bethzaida, and so forth. Terje has collaborated with our pick above, for example, in Sarke. He actually performed on Thorns’ important Trøndertun (1992) demo. We eagerly await Never, the debut album by the family project Kråbøl. Based on what we’ve heard thus far, it will be amazing. Check out a preview HERE.

06) Trym Torson

The multi-talented Trym Torson has appeared on several historic albums. Torson is celebrated for his output with Enslaved and Emperor. He is also known for co-founding Zyklon. Interestingly, Torson is influenced by jazz.

05) Frost

Satyricon and 1349’s Frost has certainly earned his place in history as one of black metal’s most iconic figures. This monster of a drummer previously lent his expertise to Gorgoroth, Keep of Kalessin, and Zyklon-B.
