REVILLA GROOVES AND GEAR:

126 North Main Street Milltown, NJ 08850 732-447-3149

Revilla had a boatload of metal on their walls when they first opened. Now it’s hit or miss. Smaller shop, but their inventory is usually cool. After you dig into the 2 metal bins, check the many New Arrivals bins. The walls also are hit or miss, but what’s up there is definitely worth it.

Revilla has audiophile gear on display, and a very cool gear room where they sell vintage turntables, amps, speakers, tape decks, and other stereo gear in very good condition at fair prices. Listening turntables, and a very ample selection of 45s in the front. Friendly staff, ask them to take something off the wall for you, don’t try do it yourself. Always worth a stop in for a dig. FOUR STARS.

THE RECORD COLLECTOR:

358 Farnsworth Ave, Bordentown, NJ 08505 (609) 324-0880

Not to be confused with Sandy Chase’s The Record Collector on Melrose in Los Angeles – However The Record Collector in Bordentown, NJ is also one of a kind. John is one cool collector, and his store is a pleasure to dig around in. Split levels separate the vinyl at the bottom of the ramp from the 45’s, CDs, 12 inch singles, and stereo gear at the top of the ramp. Well organized and relatively deep bins.

There are a few bins dedicated to metal, and they are also in the aplhabeticals, so dig in – you never know what you may find. There’s a rack display just for Beatle records alone, now that’s class. The wall has hosted some interesting rares from time to time. Relaxed browsing atmosphere, fun digging, worth visiting time and again. FOUR STARS.

EPILOGUE:

If you should find yourself in any one of these shops, have a grand time on the hunt for some great music. I was looking for metal obviously, but that doesn’t mean you won’t find something you like at a store where I didn’t. Give them all a fair shot. My next record store raid will wind up being… Wherever I may roam. More reviews coming soon. Happy record raiding!
