Paws, Pets & Metal is Metal Insider’s ongoing column on bands with pets, discovering who watches them on the road, and more. Get to know more about these metal furbabies. We caught up with Prisoner guitarist/vocalist Murray Emery reveals how one of his cats loves Black Sabbath.
Tell us more about your pet(s) and their names?
I have a few pets, I have a pomsky named Ember, and two cats named Pretzel and Katy. They all live in harmony at my house and love to play and hang out together.
Have you ever taken your pet on tour?
As of right now, no. I feel like Ember would lose her mind with the husky in her protecting her territory. As much as she loves car rides I think she would miss her bed. As for my cats they hate cars and would very much despise the entire trip as it would interrupt their nap and food schedule!
Who looks after your pet while on the road?
My parents take care of the animals while we are away. They definitely get extra treats and adventures too.
What’s your pet’s favorite song or album?
I know for a fact that my cat Pretzel loves Black Sabbath. When I put on one of their records he comes in the room and sits in front of the speakers. He seems to like Master of Reality the most. For other artists he will leave the room haha.
How did you introduce your pet to metal?
I feel like they have all been subjected to it throughout their entire lives as the vast majority of music that I consume as a listener is rock or metal or somehow related in a subgenre.I may be making a patch jacket for my dog soon too.
What animal charity means most to you?
Here in Calgary, my family and I donate to the SPCA consistently and donate multiple items like food, blankets, litter and toys every year. We are big animal lovers and do our best to support the organizations that take care of the ones in transition to new homes.
