By now it’s a given that the original lineup of Guns N’ Roses will most likely never reunite. Axl Rose is pleased (we guess?) with his current lineup, and him talking about swooping in on Slash’s dates is the closest you’ll get to hearing him saying something nice about his former band mate. Yet if they ever do decide to give in to pressure, they at least can turn to the Red Rocker for help.
In a recent interview with Attention Deficit Delirium, Sammy Hagar weighed in on the possibilities of a GN’R reunion, and even offered to help manage them if the day they came back ever returned. When asked if money could ever persuade the group to reunited, Hagar replied with the following:
“They’ve proved it again and again and again that it ain’t [about] the money. They just don’t get along because Axl goes out for a lot less money with his version of Guns N’ Roses, and Slash goes out for a lot less money with Velvet Revolver or by himself. The amount of money they could make if they got it all back together, made a great record and toured the world would probably be as much as the Rolling Stones [get], and for them not to do it, it obviously ain’t about the money. Because they could do it. I would manage them. I’d be their manager and make sure they got the right deal from all the promoters. They could be the biggest band in the world if they wanted to.”
We don’t disagree with Hagar that money is not an issue regarding the reunion, and he does know a thing or two about business (from selling Cabo Wabo tequila). However, we’d also argue that he may not have the best track records with reunions, seeing that the 2004 Van Halen reunion didn’t end so well. Seeing that Chickenfoot is doing pretty well, though, we’d imagine that Hagar isn’t waiting by the phone for a call from Rose or Slash…at least we’d hope not.
