Ross Robinson has a very impressive resume as a producer – for nu metal. Korn, Limp Bizkit, Sepultura, Slipknot and Glassjaw are just part of his pretty impressive resume. Now he’s about to add a completely different band to it – Red Fang. He’ll be producing the band’s fourth album starting next month. The band’s last two albums were produced by Chris Funk, who may be better known as the banjo player for indie-rock band The Decemberists. If Robinson’s past work is any indication, you can expect a lot of energy from the new album. Drummer John Sherman is psyched:
“I’ve never been more excited about making a record in my life. The writing process for this album has been super fun and full of energy and good vibes. And the opportunity to work with Ross Robinson is so crazy – I’ve got goose bumps just talking about it!!”
Robinson is also excited to update his resume working for a band that doesn’t wear JNCOs.
“Red Fang is the extreme mix of cool, wisdom, fire, life dedication and taste. I’m stoked to see who they are at the deepest level on tape; anyone touched by Red Fang swim in coolness, they are true messengers of inspiration.”
No word on when the album will be done, but with it being recorded in February, a Summer release date sounds realistic. On the trive down from Portland to Venice, Red Fang will be playing two shows: February 17th at Jub Jub’s in Reno and February 18th at Santa Cruz’s The Catalyst.
