The Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival had a good, eight-year run. Meanwhile, next year’s Germany’s Wacken Open Air Festival has already sold out – for the 11th year in a row. That’s 75,000 tickets already sold. For an event without a complete line-up announced.

From the official Wacken Open Air website:

“You are really crazy. Thank you for your loyalty and your unabated support! We will do our very best to organize another memorable W:O:A in 2016.

The fans are the soul of the festival only together with you we are able to celebrate the most awesome Metal festival of the year!

The ticket dispatch takes some weeks – Metaltix works very hard during that time. Please only get in touch with the team in urgent cases. That helps us all a lot.

Thanks for your outstanding support Metalheads!

See you at Wacken 2016 – Rain or Shine!”

Before this news, Jensen told Billboard of the event’s financial health:

“We’re surviving. Every year is a challenge and this one will be hard — I don’t think we’ll lose money, but the profit will be eaten. But we have to get the best experience for the fan. If we’re not doing that, we’re not successful. It’s as simple as that.”

Though a handful of bands have already been announced (below), more will be announced next month at the Hamburg Metal Dayz in the Hamburger Markthalle.
