Nine years. In a week and a half, it will have been that long since System of a Down have released an album. And while there’s no plans for the band to head back in the studio any time soon, they’re going to be playing at least one show before year’s end. It’s been announced that they’ll be headlining radio station KROQ/Los Angeles’ Almost Acoustic Christmas on December 13th. They’ll be playing along with Bush, Linkin Park and Incubus, among others, meaning it’s the late ’90s/early 2000’s all over again. KROQ has definitely lined up a pretty impressive group of bands, including U2 and The Smashing Pumpkins and Weezer are on tap for night #2. KROQ is a big enough station in a large enough market that this could be a one-off, but many bands will play a circuit of holiday shows, so we’ll see if any more shows are added to the one they’re playing on the 13th.
