UPDATE: Mötley Crüe’s final tour has been officially announced. Read the original story below.

Last August, Vince Neil confirmed that Mötley Crüe would be embarking on a farewell tour. Not many details have been released since. However, it has been announced that the band will be hosting a special event in Los Angeles entitled “RIP: All Bad Things Must Come To An End” on Tuesday, January 28th. No other details have been revealed just yet, but it’s likely that the event will be a sort of jumping-off point for the band’s farewell tour.

On the subject on when the tour will begin,Vince Neil stated the following back in August:

“I think we’ll start the tour around May — I’m just kind of guessing on that, but in the spring of ’14 — and we’ll do one more time around the world and kinda call it quits. It’s just that time. We’re going out on top. We don’t want to be some band that people are like, ‘Oh, they’re playing a club now,’ that kind of band. We still sell out arenas, have stadium stuff and things like that, so let’s go out when it’s a big deal.”

It’s common knowledge that lots of farewell tours end up being…well, not farewell tours. But the band seems pretty adamant about this one:

“There are some bands that are on their fifth and sixth farewell tour. Nah, we’re not gonna do that. I’m not gonna say we would never get back together and do some concerts or something — we wanna keep that open — but we’re not gonna do a farewell tour and then a couple of years later go, ‘Ah, never mind.'”

Whether this is true or not remains to be seen. Until then, fans will have to wait until more details arise.
