Launching a Kickstarter campaign can be a great way for a band to raise money, as long as there’s a good reason behind it and the band is willing to offer up some cool premiums. Both of those are in play for Boston metalcore band Ice Nine Kills. They’ve given themselves a one month deadline to come up with $10,000. The reason? They just got out of their old record deal, which presumably cost money in legal fees. They’re also in the process of recording a five-song EP to tide fans over while they record a full-length, presumably for their new label.

What will backers to their Kickstarter fund get? Anything from from a shout-out on Twitter to the band tattooing your name on their body. In between, there are other cool premiums, like the band playing a show at your house and having a song on their next album named after you. So far, they’re in a pretty good place. In just four days, they’ve raised almost half of their goal. It’s not like they’re in Amanda Palmer territory yet, but it’s definitely a solid start.

If you’re interested in donating, head over to their Kickstarter page now. If you’re unfamiliar with them, check out their new lyric video for “The Coffin is Moving” above.
