We were very impressed by Viktoriya Yermolyeva’s piano makeover of numerous metal classics, including Carcass’ “Corporal Jigsore Quandary.” However, her covers may have just been topped by this instrumental piano rendition of Mastodon’s Leviathan we just discovered.
Supposedly done in one uninterrupted take, Sam Abbott (jsabbott0) performs Mastodon’s 2004 classic album in its entirety on piano. That’s right, in its entirety! Not only is that an impressive task, but it also sounds pretty damn awesome. Watch Abbott’s instrumental piano rendition of Leviathan in the video above, while audio is also available for free download via the pianist’s Soundcloud.
However, Mastodon isn’t the only band Abbott has covered. You can check out more of his videos on YouTube, while his renditions of Amon Amarth’s “Runes To My Memory” and Dethklok’s “Dethsupport” can be seen after the jump.
