Two years before recording Megadeth’s debut album Killing Is My Business… and Business Is Good!, Metallica gave Dave Mustaine the boot. That might somewhat explain Megadeth recorded a speed thrash version of “These Boots Are Made For Walkin’” (written by Lee Hazlewood, but made famous by Nancy Sinatra). Nevertheless, it’s still an odd cover. Furthermore, Hazlewood wasn’t exactly pleased with Megadeth’s version, which featured altered lyrics. While the cover was omitted from pressings released after 1995, a censored version was featured in the 2002 re-release.
