In episode two of season two, there’s a scene where Opie and Tig are gathering firearms in a kitchen. “Wait, wasn’t that Steve ‘Lips’ Kudlow and Robb Reiner of Anvil?” you may have asked yourself when watching the scene. While very brief, Lips and Reiner do indeed make a cameo as gun runners. How the hell did that come about? Well according to Lips, show creator Kurt Sutter (who also lived across the street of Sacha Gervasi, the director of Anvil! The Story of Anvil) is a big fan of Anvil and asked them to make a cameo in an episode, as well as contribute a cover of The Who’s “Slip Kid” to the Sons Of Anarchy: North Country EP.
