Obituary, Obituary (Relapse)
Florida death metal band Obituary brings the heavy with their 10th studio album, Obituary. With their previous release Inked in Blood reaching their highest position on the Billboard 200, the self-titled release has a lot to live up to and it seems to be doing just that. The album has been garnering generally positive reviews, earning a solid 4/5 from our own Ryan Panny. The band is going on tour with Kreator between this month and next to support the album, kicking it off today in Charlotte, NC. Along with its release comes a making-of documentary, and the first part was released on YouTube yesterday. It was also released on vinyl.
Fit for an Autopsy, The Great Collapse (eOne/Good Fight Music)
New Jersey based deathcore group Fit for an Autopsy have returned with their fourth full-length studio release, The Great Collapse. Guitarist and produce Will Putney has stated that the album is “a reflection on the current chaotic state of mankind’s relationship with the world.” This theme is very present in the music videos released for the songs”Black Mammoth” and “Heads Will Hang,” as the band tackles nuclear war and the Standing Rock Protests.
King of Asgard, Taudr (Trollmusic)
Swedish melodeath group King of Asgard has released their fourth studio release, Taudr. The five song EP is the first release from the band since leaving Metal Blade Records and signing to the Swedish label Trollmusic. It features four new songs as well as a cover of Mithotyn’s “Upon Raging Waves.” The release is also available on vinyl.
SoBro Music presents Undiscovered: Rock (Compilation)
SoBro Music presents the very first edition of their Undiscovered: Rock compilation, a collection of 10 songs from 10 different bands that are starting to make a name for themselves in the rock and metal world. Give a listen, as any of these bands has the potential to break out in the next few years, and this could be the place you hear them first. The songs are all original, but that album art looks a little bit familiar.

This Oklahoma City three-piece progressive metal band have been prolific since their first release, 2009’s Manikin Parade. Their sixth release, Warpaint, is out today, and in the relatively short time together, they’ve gotten to tour with many of the bands that influenced them, including Pain of Salvation and Fates Warning. We’ve featured the band’s Spotify playlist of songs to drive to, talked to guitarist/vocalist Clay Withrow about what video games he’s been playing, and will be launching a contest with them later today.
